The work with children and young people in
South Lakeland is cross-cutting and ranges from local democracy,
play, arts and leisure activities, through to housing.
The partners involved with children and
young people include officers from SLDC, Housing
organisations, Brathay, Cumbria NHS, Cumbria Police, Young Cumbria,
Connexions, Lakes Leisure and Cumbria County Council's Children’s
Services to support young people’s recreational activities. Most of
the work with Children and Young People in Cumbria is led by the
Childrens Trust Board.
Child Protection is delivered using a
multi agency approach through the Local Safeguarding Children
Board.
South Lakeland District
Council owns and maintains Play areas in South
Lakeland.
Cumbria County Council delivers services to
children and is a commissioning
body for services. These services include nurseries,
schools, further and special education, social care, adoption and
fostering services and looked- after-children etc. Commissioned
